Fact: Mommas don’t get sick days. Well, unless it’s the weekend and Daddy’s home to take over. In that case, Momma gets to lie on the couch all day long and watch hour after hour of Downton Abbey (thank god for Daddy). But during the week, there are no sick days, so the show must go on. I’ve still got to find ways to keep that pretty little smile on Lily’s face.
In addition to our normal preschool activities I try to come up with something extra neat for Lily to do on the off days. Usually it varies between doing a craft, playing in paint, or baking something delicious. Sometimes I’m all out of ideas, so I check out some of the hundreds of things I’ve saved online.
Yesterday, I hit the jackpot: small explosions and glitter, lots and lots of glitter. All you need is baking soda, vinegar, glitter, and food coloring. You can live without the glitter, unless you are a 3 1/2 year old girl. In that case, you cannot live without the glitter. Ever.
Click here for the recipe. It’s simple, and you probably remember having done it in school at some point. Lily’s way small to try and understand the separate reactions that occur, but it was still fun to watch and add other variables to see if we could change the outcome.
I promise. It’ll be a HUGE hit with a little person. We did it at least 10 times until we ran out of ingredients :)
